The Mission HQ

The Mission HQ didn’t start as just a gym—it began as a vision for something bigger. Founded by Wilson Du, also known as the Renal Warrior, TMHQ was born out of resilience, determination, and a desire to help others transform their lives through fitness, nutrition, and community. 

Wilson’s journey, from battling end-stage renal disease to becoming a kidney transplant recipient and accomplished athlete, serves as the foundation of TMHQ’s mission: empowering individuals to take control of their health and thrive.

A Vision Rooted in Overcoming Challenges

In 2016, Wilson faced a life-changing diagnosis of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). At the time, he struggled with his weight and a high-stress lifestyle, leaving him unable to walk and dependent on dialysis. But instead of giving in, Wilson embarked on an incredible journey of transformation—losing over 135 pounds, completing a 600-mile bike ride, and finishing an Olympic-style triathlon, all while on dialysis. His experience proved that, with the right mindset and support, anyone can overcome even the toughest challenges.

Out of this experience came the desire to create a space where others could find the same strength, encouragement, and community that helped him succeed. In 2022, after receiving a kidney transplant, Wilson founded The Mission HQ to bring that vision to life.

Building a Place for Everyone

From day one, TMHQ was built to be more than just a gym. It’s a community-focused space where individuals of all fitness levels and health backgrounds can come together to achieve their goals in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Whether it’s boxing, HIIT, strength training, or mobility classes, TMHQ offers something for everyone.

But TMHQ’s story isn’t just about fitness—it’s about people. Many of our coaches and staff started as members, finding their own health and fitness journeys here before becoming leaders in the community. TMHQ is proud to have a team of passionate coaches who embody the spirit of perseverance and inclusivity.

A Space to Grow and Thrive

Over the years, TMHQ has grown into a hub for wellness and connection in Alameda. Our gym serves as a safe space for individuals rebuilding their health after illness, busy parents looking for balance, and anyone ready to take the next step in their fitness journey. We believe in meeting people where they are, celebrating progress over perfection, and creating sustainable paths to health.

The Mission HQ Today

TMHQ continues to grow, offering a wide range of programs, including Warrior Classes for chronic illness survivors, community events, and personalized coaching. We’ve become a place where people come not only to work out but also to find support, inspiration, and connection.
